Remmele was a team captain in 2002 and 2003. A physical and emotional leader, Remmele's career-best time of 16:50 in the 5k listed him as the 11th fastest male cross country runner in Turpin history. A First Team All-FAVC Cross Country selection in 2003, Remmele ran one season for Auburn University in 2004, before transferring to Purdue University, where he graduated with a degree in business in 2009.
